COVID-19 & LMC Concerts and Events

Dear Members:

LMC is closely monitoring the developing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) within King County. While most cases are considered mild and people in good health appear to fully recover, we are learning more each day. The well-being of our entire community is our highest priority and we are following guidance from the CDC and the Washington Department of Health to keep everyone safe and healthy.

The annual LMC Luncheon has been canceled, along with all concerts for the remainder of the season.

The Governor of the State of Washington has banned all gatherings of more than 250 people in King County, where the Frances Walton Competition is held.  Due to this, and the news that at least one university in the country has put travel restrictions on Seattle/King County, we must cancel this year’s Frances Walton Competition.  All people who have completed their applications will receive a full refund of their application fee.  Thank you for entering or considering entering our competition.

I hope you will all remain healthy!

Best wishes,

Kate Smith

2018-2019 Annual Financial Report and the Year in Review

Dear Members and Friends of LMC:

This year we celebrated 128 years of LMC’s presence in the Seattle musical community. LMC is fortunate to have an incredible roster of volunteers and friends such as you who continue to support our mission through free public concerts, Music in Schools and the Frances Walton Competition. Together, we make a real difference in music and the arts in our community.

This year has seen exceptionally creative member programming, including our composer’s concert, an outgrowth of our newly formed composition group. We were aided in our knowledge of LMC’s past composition groups by LMC’s member, professional historian, Whitney Henderson. Under her guidance, archival photos, member books and programs have all been scanned online with the goal of making all of our materials available to special collections and the public at large. Outreach to new venues and collaborations continues as our talented members keep our current programs relevant to our public.

As we start our 129th year, we remain grateful to our members, volunteers and supporters whose impact has made a difference in our programs.

Thank you,

Kate Smith
