Popular pianist Danny Holt will present a Master Class before his 4:30pm concert. All LMC Members (including those with no or limited performance experience!) are invited to attend this master class with pianist Danny Holt, who will explore the performance practice of Classical-era music. When approaching music from the Classic era (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and their lesser-known contemporaries), Holt brings out the subtle and complex details such as articulation, dynamics, tempo, and timing. He applies what he’s learned from playing historical pianos (both original instruments and modern replicas) and a sometimes irreverent combination of period performance practice and ahistorical free-wheeling personal flair. A discussion of urtext scores vs. the more easily-accessible scores edited later in the 19th century ends up being crucial, too. LMC members can register for free and can bring guests for $10/pp. This event is a pilot for a Music for Musicians Series, a series of events throughout the season aimed at providing more technical information for musicians, composers, amateur performers, and others with an interest or profession in music.
